athletes footAthletes foot got its name primarily because it can be most common among athletes. There are a couple of reasons for this. Athletes foot MAY be contagious from person to person, but not always.

Not everyone who carries the fungus develops signs and symptoms, and not everyone who comes in contact with the fungus develops athlete’s foot. Athletes foot occurs due to a kind of Epidermophyton or Trichophyton fungus which can reside on the surface of the skin, migrating underneath the skin, which in turn can cause infections.

Typical symptoms of athletes foot are dry skin on the soles of the feet which may become cracked and sore, reddening of the skin, lesions, bleeding sores and pustules .

Athletes foot symptoms are pretty easy to recognize. Without doubt, the most common indicators have got to be that dry skin, annoying itching, and often painful inflammation or blisters, usually found right in between the toes and especially the last two toes on a foot.

Athletes foot is most often found in between the toes and on the bottom of the foot. While there are many over-the-counter treatments as well as prescriptions that help combat athletes foot, there are also many home remedies for the condition.

Athletes foot may be a common skin but should not be taken lightly.
